The restored gate and courtyard of Varbola Jaanilinn
Author(s): Toomas Tuul
Varbola was the greatest stronghold in ancient Estonia. The 2-hectare courtyard was surrounded by a 580 m long stone wall. Its outside height was 5–8, inside 2–6 m. The remains of about 90 stone stoves give an idea of the size of the community.
