The 300th anniversary of the founding of the University of Tartu was celebrated in 1932 with great pomp and ceremony. People marked the respectable age of the most important Estonian university, but in the spirit of the era, also created a mental bridge from the tsarist university of 1802, which promoted the Baltic German and tsarist Russian ideology, to Academia Gustaviana of the 17th century, the ‘good old Swedish time’.
